TRIAC Mill Spindle Project

2010

The concept has from the beginning been to have a cheap spindle axis and build as good as I could by using the setup of the tool as reference to get as good accuracy as I could with my machines. The final step in this procedure was to machine the front surface of the spindle axle so that the TTS holder would bee drawn agains a perpendicular reference. In order to get the surface perpendicular to the axis of rotation, I set up the spindle mounted and had the lathe run the spindle. That way I get the true axis of rotation while machining the surface.

I did a pre and post measurement to be able to compare results. Details in the pictures, but the main outcome was very pleasing. Not dead “0” but pretty close.

More speed, more power, more movement, more coolant, more light..
